Welcome to our blog
Year 5 Team: Mr Taylor, Miss Nuttall and Mrs Gill
In RE we were exploring the Jewish Celebration of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur- which is the Jewish New Year ,that is celebrated either at the end of September or the beginning of October. We tried some traditional Jewish food such as apples and honey which symbolises a 'sweet new year' and some Challah bread which is circular bread to represent the circle of life.
In PSHE we looked at inspirational quotes and affirmations which are positive for our wellbeing.
We created our own artwork based on the story of Big Panda and Little Dragon.
Our Bunting for the Thrive charity measured 24m in length
Our Christmas cards and calendars
Our Christmas hoop decoration. We used lollipop sticks and shades of blue and white wool to weave a snowflake.
We then decorated the tips of the lollipop sticks with glitter and added some snowflake sparkly stickers.
We used playing cards to do times tables races.
We have been learning about Olympic Champion Sir Mo Farah for UK Black History month.
We watched video clips of the 2012 and 2016 Olympics where he has won a total of 4 Gold medals for the 5000 and 10000 m races.
He has an interesting childhood story and we wrote biographies and drew and coloured pictures which included his inspirational quotes.
We had fun playing games with the parachute in PE
